Type Unusual glass-nibbed fountain pen
Product Name Unknown - we can't find any branding or marks on the pen. We suspect it might be German-made.
Manufacturer and Year Unknown - we estimate 1930s or 1940s, possibly Europe, because it looks like some pens we've seen from that area and time period.
Length 4-11/16" long
Filling System Button filler. Restored with a new sac.
Color Burgundy marbled material, with black finials and section. The trim is gold-plated, including two narrow cap bands.
Nib This is a glass nib, and we don't have a lot to compare it with. It looks like it would put down a fairly fine line. The tip is a bit scratchy.
Condition Excellent condition. There is light to moderate scratching on the cap and barrel. The cap lip is smooth, with no cracks or chips. The clip and cap bands have a lot of brassing. The cap threads have a tiny bit of roughness, but the cap does screw on fairly smoothly and securely. The barrel has light scratching and handwear. The pen is working well.
We have read that some pen companies made glass-nibbed pens during WWII, as metal was scarce and needed for war-essential supplies. There was a company named Haro that was known for making glass-nibbed pens.
