Product Description
Type Fountain pen with "captive converter" piston filling system, and a matching traveling inkwell.
Product Name Visconti Moonlight Voyager.
Manufacturer and Year Visconti, Italy -- 1999-2000.
Length 5-1/2 inches.
Filling System Captive converter, or piston, filling system. It works like a standard piston filler, but a tug will remove the piston knob and reveal the converter. We've fully cleaned and tested the pen and it's working very well.
Color Black lucite cap, barrel, and section, with rose gold vermeil overlay. Vermeil is gold plating over sterling silver, and it must be at least 10k gold and 2.5 microns thick ("regular" gold plating is only required to be 1 micron thick!). 3/16" cap band and rose gold colored trim. The barrel of both the pen and the inkpot are hallmarked 925.
Nib FINE Visconti Firenze 14k rose gold nib is smooth.
Condition Near Mint condition, in box with paperwork. We found no evidence that the pen has been inked. There are some faint handling marks on both the pen and inkpot. No dents, cracks, chips, or major scratches. Ships in large box that includes the pen, the traveling ink pot, an eyedropper for filling the inkwell, and paperwork. The ID card notes that this is the "Moonlight Silver" model - we don't know if the rose gold version had a different designation, but will note that the gold is overlaid on a base of sterling silver.
Note: The inkwell does have some scratching on the window portion. Additionally, it originally had a sticker that would have warned you not to overfill it, with a line about 1 cm below the seal to show the maximum lever. This information is also included in the accompanying instructions.
