Color "Sandal" color is browns and oranges. The barrel has a semitransparent appearance to it. Silver trim. The cap uses a locking "bayonet" mechanism to attach itself to the barrel. As a result of people having difficulty figuring out how this works, this model is prone to cracks in the resin just beneath the section, and this pen is no exception. The cap also has a screw in the back of the cap to adjust how much the clip can move.
Nib FINE 14k two-tone nib. Springy and smooth. Later Van Gogh pens do not come standard with a gold nib but that is not the case for this line. This looks like it should be the original nib.
Condition Very nice condition. There are cracks in the barrel near the metal section, you can see them in the clear material, but they are supported by the metal threads inside the barrel. The rest of the barrel has light handwear and microscratching. When we got the pen the cap band was off and there was a big crack in the cap lip. We glued the band back on so the cracks are not visible from the outside, and the caps attaches securely. The barrel transparency is amazing, and the swirls of color are lovely.
