Product Description
Type Vintage ring top lever fill fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name The nib is marked Eversharp #2 Signature
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Eversharp, made in USA – circa 1920s
Length Not including the ring top hardware, the pen is 4-5/16", the pencil is 4-1/8
Filling System The pen is a lever filler, which we have restored with a new sac. The pencil takes 1.1mm (or "Thick") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism (you twist the top piece). As is often the case with these pencils the mechanism only works to push leads out, so to retract them you will need to push them back in with your finger.
Color Black and pearl color with gold plated trim, double cap bands, and black end pieces. The pencil's cone is steel or chrome plated.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold Eversharp #2 Signature nib. It's smooth with nice tipping material. Not quite full flex, but certainly more than what we usually call semi-flex, with easy line variation from fine to a small broad with only very slight pressure. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. There's some light scratching and handwear on the pen and pencil and a small mark on the pencil. There's just light microscratching on most of the trim, with small spots of brassing on the lever and around the ring top hardware on both pieces. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. The imprints are a little worn but quite readable. Both pieces are working well, and we've fully restored the fountain pen.
