Product Description
Type Vintage vacuum filling fountain pen.
Product Name Doric II, the "II" series had cap bands that covered the cap lip to reduce cracking and came in different colors and used a different filling system. This is from the Airliner series, and might originally have had an adjustable nib and ink shut off.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Eversharp, USA -- 1930s
Length 4-9/16" = junior size.
Filling System Vacuum (piston) filler. This was called the "One shot" vacuum filling system by Eversharp and is modeled after the Sheaffer vac-fil system. We did not restore this filling system, but we have tested it and it's working well. We'll guarantee it for one year, though we expect it to last reliably for much longer.
Color They called this faceted gray and black "chunks and chips" marble celluloid "Silver & Black Shell." White metal trim with a 1/4" cap band that goes to the cap lip and has triangular cutouts. There is a partly translucent (amber) viewing area on the barrel.
Nib FINE gold nib. Firm, no flex.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautiful pen in a great collectible silver marble color pattern. The cap and barrel have light to moderate scratching. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and a few small, deep scratches along some of the facet edges. It's amber viewing window has good visibility. It must be said that scratches are difficult to see because of the pattern on this pen. The cap band has a little bit of plating wear along some of the edges and points. The clip has plating wear along edges and the end. The Wahl emblem looks great.
