Product Description
Type Vintage bulb-filling fountain pen and pencil set.
Product Name Bantam.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Eversharp, made in USA - circa 1930s.
Length The pen is just under 3-7/8" capped, the pencil is 3-13/16".
Filling System The pen is filled via the bulb system. You unscrew the end of the barrel and squeeze the bulb a few times, letting it re-inflate. We have installed a new sac and tested the pen and it is working well. The pencil takes 1.1mm (or "thick") leads, though it may be limited to the Eversharp square leads as we found it very difficult to make it take standard round 1.1mm leads.
Color Red Brown Swirl color with gold plated trim. The pencil is a little lighter and appears to be more of a marbled color, so it may actually be the Burgundy Marbled color.
Nib MEDIUM FLEXIBLE Wahl 0 14k nib has excellent tipping material. It's close to what we would call fully flexible, with easy line variation from a nice medium to a double broad with little pressure.
Condition Excellent condition. There are just a few light scratches and marks on the cap and barrel of the pen, though there's more light scratching on the pencil. The pen's clip shows just a little wear on its edges, and the pencil has the same, along with some scratching and wear on the cone and a little on its band. There are a couple of tiny cosmetic hairline cracks in the top of the pen's cap but they do not affect the pen's function. No personalization, dings or dents. It's fully restored and working well.
