Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Unknown. This was an early celluloid pen. They began manufacturing a few different models later in the 1930s.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Oxford, made in USA (a Wahl-Eversharp sub-brand) -- this is an early model from around 1931. The pen is shaped like the long slender Equi-poise Wahls.
Length 5-1/4".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Olive Hatched color, in a sort of marbled pattern with a faint shell pattern over it. Gold plated trim, though much of the plating has worn off.
Nib MEDIUM Wahl Oxford #2 gold nib. It's smooth with lovely tipping. It's got some flexibility to it, a little more than semi-flex, with easy line variation from a larger medium to a nice large broad.
Condition Very nice condition. No chips, dings, dents, or personalization. At the ends of the pen the celluloid has crystalized slightly and the color changes to a sort of translucent yellowish color. There are some small cosmetic cracks in both ends, but neither look like they will spread or be a problem. The gold plating on the lever is almost completely worn off, and some of the clip's plating is worn too. The lever doesn't lie completely flush against the barrel, it's a little bent outwards (see the last photo below). The cap and barrel show very light scratching and handwear. The imprint is worn but readable (it says "Made in USA by the makers of Eversharp"). It's fully restored and working well.
