Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a nicely flexible nib
Product Name Model 0852 1/2 V (marked in red on the end of the pen barrel)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- the pen was probably made between 1900 and 1915. (The imprint reads, AUG .4. 1903)
Length 4-5/16" not counting ring hardware
Filling System Lever filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.)
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim. The cap band is 1/2" wide with heavy floral engraving.
Nib FINE, flexible, very smooth, see writing sample below. The nib says, "Waterman's Ideal New York 2." Not quite full flex.
Condition Excellent condition, it could have been classified as superior but the cap lip had to be shaved down due to a chip. The pen looks great and is well balanced, despite the modification, and the hard rubber is very black so you don't see a difference in color due to exposure to sunlight. No personalization. No brassing. There are some tiny chips in the hard rubber around the lever box and scratches on the section from the cap. The imprint is very clear and sharp on the main part of the barrel. It reads, "PAT'D 1834 May 23, 1899 Waterman's Ideal Fountain - Pen. N.Y. U.S.A. Aug .4. 1903." The imprint stating the model number is still legible, but much of the red filling is gone.
