Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen in working condition, lever filler, hard to find.
Product Name Waterman 100 Year Pen, the name of the model changed from "Hundred Year" to "100 Year" after the first year of production but the imprint stayed "Hundred Year" on the cap and nib. This is the second to last version of this pen from 1942 with celluloid, a transparent end piece, and no barrel band.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1942, this is the third version.
Length 5-1/4" and quite fat.
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the bladder with a new sac in the pen and the filling system works well.
Color Black celluloid with a transparent end piece. The cap has a wide cap band and a few ribs and the barrel is ribbed throughout. The pen is personalized on the barrel: "Wm. Garcia" and on the cap band: "W.I.G.".
Nib FINE Flexible gold Waterman Hundred Year Pen nib. Large nib that flexes easily and gives line variation from fine to broad. See writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. This is a unique, dark black pen, with a ribbed barrel and partially ribbed cap, and with a beautifully transparent barrel end piece (which is probably a replacement). The barrel has moderate scratching near the end just above the transparent end piece. The ribbing is all intact and looks great. The lever has some scratching, plating wear, and pitting, but there is a lot of gold showing through. The barrel is personalized: "Wm. Garcia". The top 1/8" of the cap is murky clear and has cracks where the left side of the clip attaches (see photo below). The cap has moderate scratching overall. The clip has plating wear along the bottom edge and on the very top. The cap band looks nice. It has a personalization: "W.I.G.". The imprints on the cap are very clear.
Here are the cracks coming off the left side of the clip.
