Product Description
Type Vintage pen
Product Name Model 12
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Canada -- Early 1900s, it uses the pre-1917 numbering system. The nib has a Canada imprint, but the barrel imprint is very worn so we can't tell if it was also marked Canada.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Eyedropper filler. An eyedropper kit will be included.
Color Black chased hard rubber with nickel plated trim. The chasing is worn to the degree that it is almost smooth.
Nib Semi-flexible medium 14k nib. Not super soft, but easy to flex during normal writing. It is marked Waterman's Ideal Canada 2. The tines are a bit curved downward at the end but the nib still writes smoothly with good line variation. We consider it semi-flexible with line variation from medium-fine to medium-broad. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a slim, shiny pen with a smooth surface that still shows chasing, particularly on the cap. The color has faded from black to a consistent milk chocolate brown. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and mainly light scratching. The cap has strong chasing marks and a few light scratches. The clip (Clip Cap) has plating wear and a bit of pitting above the ball end. The 12 mark at the end of the barrel is clear. The imprints are faded and partially readable.
