Product Description
Type Vintage eyedropper-filling fountain pen with a flexible nib. Hard to find model.
Product Name Model 12 (marked on the end of the pen barrel). The 1 indicates eyedropper filler and the 2 is for the nib size.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- 1920s.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Eyedropper filling system. We've cleaned and tested it, it's working very well. We'll include an eyedropper kit and instructions on filling this pen.
Color Black chased hard rubber covered with sterling silver floral filigree.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold nib is marked "Waterman's Ideal new York." Please see the writing sample below. The point is fine which offers very strong contrast to the flexed lines of the pen. Line variation from fine to a wide broad. We consider this fully flexible, though not a "wet noodle."
Condition Excellent condition for this ornate, elegant and hard to find fountain pen. The silver filigree looks beautiful and is in excellent condition overall, though the bottom edge of the cap is a bit dinged up and there's a small chip of ebonite missing in the inside lip. The hard rubber on the cap and barrel has some fine scratching and some of the areas where it shows through have wear along the edges. The black endpiece has one deep scratch and a small chip along the bottom edge. The section, which is in two pieces, has capping marks and moderate to heavy scratching on the bottom piece and light scratching on the top piece. The top piece has a little "Y" shaped scratch. Even with the scratching, the section is shiny and the black color is vivid. The "12" imprint on the bottom end of the pen is clear. The Waterman imprint on the top of the barrel is sketchy (you can make it out but it is quite worn). No cracks.
