Type Vintage pen
Product Name Model 12 SF ("Sleeve Filler")
Manufacturer and Year Waterman USA -- Early 1900s, it uses the pre-1917 numbering system
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Sleeve filler. You slide the protruding portion of the barrel down it and expose a bar. The bar is pushed in a method not dissimilar to an aerometric bar over a sac. We have replaced the sac and it is working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with a 9/16" gold filled barrel band. The band has a floral motif.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE 14k nib. It is marked Waterman's Ideal New York 2. Good line variation is attainable with this nib. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. The exposed hard rubber has lightened to a chocolate brown, that's the main imperfection. You can see the contrast between discolored and original hard rubber from removing the clip cap or sliding down the "sleeve." There are a few darker spots closer to the original black on the top of the cap and the end of the barrel. The cap band has no dents or plating wear. The chasing is faded. The sleeve imprint is worn but legible. The end of barrel imprint is very clear. The pen has been personaized, "HSM."
