Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Model 452 (It's not marked as such, but in the Waterman numbering schema, 4 = sterling cap and barrel, 5 = lever filler, and 2 = #2 nib, all of which describe this pen)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA - circa 1920s
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Lever filler, restored here at PSP with a new sac.
Color "Hand Engraved Vine" pattern was the most expensive of all the overlays, and the only one with engravings on the lever and clip. Fully engraved sterling silver. Section and and of barrel are black hard rubber.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE. New York IDEAL #2 nib. Not quite full flex, but easy flexing from fine to broad plus. Excellent tipping material, very smooth. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. There is one spot of damage on the top edge of the cap; it looks like a chunk of the rolled silver edge broke off. We've got a close-up in the photos so you can see more details. Beyond that, there are a few marks just from silver being a soft metal, but overall it looks quite nice and the engraved pattern is fairly strong. The imprints are clear. Barrel has a diamond-shaped monogram for the initials LAB, with the B enlarged in the middle.
