Product Description
Type Vintage mechanical pencil in amazing condition, working well
Product Name It isn't marked, but it is full length but slender like the Waterman 52 1/2 fountain pen.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- 1910s or early '20s. We've had an almost identical pencil before with the patent mark "Pat.Oct.14.1924," while this one is marked "PAT.APL'D FOR," meaning it must be at least pre-October 1924.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Takes 1.1mm (aka "thick") leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism (you twist the cone). The mechanism is only for extending leads, so to retract them you have to retract the pusher by twisting and then push the leads back in with your finger. We will include a small container extra leads.
Color Black chased hard rubber with a nickel plated clip.
Condition Immaculate condition, not a spot on this pencil. The only sign that it isn't fresh from the press in the early 1920s is that the clip stands just a hair away from the barrel. The chasing and the imprint are beautifully crisp and look untouched. The mechanism is working perfectly. This is certainly the nicest hard rubber Waterman pencil we've ever offered.
