Product Name Model 52 1/2 V (marked on the end of the pen barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA – circa 1920s.
Length 4-3/8".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim, a ring top cap, and a groove instead of a cap band.
Nib FINE gold Waterman's IDEAL #2 nib is smooth and springy with nice tipping material. Flexible, but not full flex. Please see our writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition. The chasing on the cap looks good. The color is rather faded; there's a distinct difference between the black part underneath the cap, and the medium-dark brown color of the portions that have been exposed to the elements. The ringtop "cap" has a lot of dents on the top; the sides have moderate scratching and dots of pitting.
There is a mark on the section that looks like a crack; we have filled it with Captain Tolley's and tested it extensively, and there is no leaking from this area. The lever and housing have some areas of plating wear, especially around the tab end of the lever bar. The chasing patterns on the cap and barrel are somewhat worn, but you can still see the ghosted remnants. The barrel imprint opposite the lever is smoothed down, but still visible. The "52-1/2V" barrel end imprint is easily readable. The imprint around the last 1/2" of the barrel is still readable; there are some shallow tooth marks in that area.
