Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib, with matching pencil.
Product Name Model 52 (marked on the end of the pen barrel)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- circa 1920s
Length 5-3/8" (pen), 5-9/16" (pencil)
Filling System The pencil takes 1.1mm refills and works via the twist mechanism. It has four slits in the cone and doesn't retract the leads anymore. As is, the leads twist out and must be pushed back in. The pen is a lever filler. The sac has been replaced and it's working well.
Color Red ripple hard rubber with gold plated trim. The feed on the fountain pen is also red ripple so it could be original.
Nib Flexible fine 14K. The nib is marked Waterman Ideal. It is nicely flexible with a good ink flow. We consider it great for every day writing, almost fully flexible. The line varies from an almost extra-fine to broad. Please see writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition, the hard rubber is incredibly smooth to the touch and the color is awesome on both. The imprints are very good.
FOUNTAIN PEN: The fountain pen has a thin line of brassing on the cap band, and some brassing and pitting on the clip ball and lever. The clip is excellent. This pen writes smoothly with a good amount of flex. The filling system is working well, and we'll guarantee it for a year.
MECHANICAL PENCIL: The pencil has plating wear on the clip ball and just barely so on the edges of the cap band and the rest of the clip. There is a short deep scratch just above the band.
