Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib, with matching pencil.
Product Name Model 52 (marked on the end of the pen barrel)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- circa 1920s
Length 5-5/16" (pen), 5-3/16" (pencil)
Filling System The pencil takes 1.1mm refills and works via the twist mechanism. It doesn't retract the leads anymore. As is, the leads twist out and must be pushed back in. The pen is a lever filler. The sac has been replaced and it's working well.
Color Red ripple hard rubber with gold plated trim. The feed on the fountain pen is also red ripple so it could be original.
Nib Flexible fine 14K. The nib is marked Waterman Ideal New York. The tines spread very easily and can be considered full flex. It goes between a fine and about a double broad. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition with no cracks, serious scratches or personalization. The pen has one scratch above the W in the imprint and a fair amount of brassing on the lever box, but otherwise the only plating wear is on the ball of the clip. The imprint is mostly polished off. The pencil is in better condition with only very small amounts of brassing on the ball clip and a crisp imprint.
