Condition Excellent condition. The cardinal red hard rubber is uncommon in Waterman 55s, and this particular pen with the imprint marking Admiral Byrd's Antarctica Expedition is rarely seen. Barrel and cap both have light handwear, but no cracks or chips, or large individual scratches. The clip has a bit of plating wear along the sides, and a large area of brassing on the ball. The top of the cap band has brassing. Lever looks good, and the lever box has two small areas of plating wear. The imprints look good, and are easily readable.
In addition to the usual Waterman's imprints, the barrel is marked "In token of lasting friendship / America - New Zealand / Byrd Antarctic Expedition".
