Product Description
Type Vintage lever-filler fountain pen
Product Name There is no number on this one, but it is very much like a model 552 (version of the 52 in a gold filled finish). The pattern is "Pansy Panel."
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA - circa 1920s (nib is from England)
Length 5-1/8"
Filling System Lever filler (We've replaced the bladder and it's working very well.)
Color 18k gold filled finish, called "Pansy Panel," engraved with vines and flowers, alternating with narrow flat panels. The section and end of barrel are black hard rubber.
Nib Left oblique medium. The nib is marked Waterman's Ideal England 2. Not flexible, but the oblique/italic shape of this nib will give you some nice line variation.
Condition Excellent condition with only light signs of use. Barrel is personalized with "R. M. Snelgrove, Dec 29th 1923". There is brassing and a few small dings on top and bottom edges of the barrel, and slight dings on the top of the cap. Pattern is slightly time-worn, but still fairly clear. There are a couple of marks on the section, perhaps tool marks? No cracks in the hard rubber components.
