Product Description
Type Oversized vintage pen
Product Name Model 56 as marked on the end of the barrel. The 5 indicates that the pen is a lever filler. The 6 is for the nib size.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman -- 1920s.
Length 5-5/8"
Filling System Lever filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.)
Color Bright orange red hard rubber called "Cardinal" by collectors. It has gold filled trim including the clip and lever. The cap has a carved line near the end to give the appearance of a cap band.
Nib MEDIUM FLEXIBLE Waterman's #6 nib. It is smooth and writes with good line variation. Please see the writing sample below. The feed is cardinal red hard rubber to match the rest of the pen and that is correct.
Condition Excellent + condition. The coloring is just about perfect. You can make out some variation on the barrel between the capped and non-capped portions. There are small nicks at the end of the barrel and a two slightly darkened marks near the top of the cap. The feed is a little stained and the nib collar has a nick in it. The imprints are all clear but are filled in a little and partially faded. The clip and lever have a little plating wear but overall look great in hand.
