Product Description
Type Vintage hard rubber fountain pen
Product Name Hard to find model. Waterman 754, as identified by the number at the end of the barrel. The 7 means that it has a solid gold barrel band, the 5 means it is a lever filler, and the 4 refers to the nib size.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1920s.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Lever filler. A new sac has been installed and tested. It's working well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with solid 14k clip, barrel band, and lever. The band is very wide at 1/2".
Nib Extra Fine Flexible Waterman's #4 nib. It is smooth and flexes easily. While it does have great hairlines and strong line variation, the maximum line width is broad. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. The chasing is very well defined on the cap and a bit worn on the barrel. The clip has a curved shape that is not like typical Waterman clips of this era, so it might be a special clip used for the 14k material, or it could have been bent and straightened. The lever, clip, and barrel band all show small marks due to their high gold content. The lever is dented. The barrel has some discoloration. The end of barrel imprint is clear. The pen has no cracks, chips, or major marks or scratches. It has a very long three line personalization, "L.K. Morley 5742 Crittenden St. GTN." (We think the "GTN" might stand for Germantown.) It's working very well.
