Product Description
Type Vintage lever filing fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Model 94 (it's marked on the end of the pen's barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Made in USA - circa 1930s.
Length Pen is 5-1/16", the pencil is 5".
Filling System The pen is a lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism (you twist the cone to extend leads). As is often the case with old pencils, the lead extends fine, but you have to push it back in to retract it.
Color Mahogany - reddish brown marbled finish with white veins and gold plated trim. The pen is missing its cap band.
Nib EXTRA FINE FLEXIBLE Waterman's gold Ideal nib is smooth with nice tipping material. It has modest flexibility, a bit better than semi-flex, with easy line variation from extra fine to a medium-broad. Good hairlines and responsiveness. Please see our writing sample below. (Please note that the small black dots you see on the surface of the nib was dried ink, it was not pitting.)
Condition Very nice condition. As mentioned above, the major flaw is that the cap band on the pen is missing. Both pen and pencil show some lesser scratching and hand wear, as well as some brassing on the edges of the clips, and on the pen's clip. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. Both pen and pencil are working very well, the pen has been fully restored.
