Product Description
Type Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil Set
Product Name Waterman CF Pen Set ... the barrel of the pen has a chalkmark that says "C/F 1500" and the pencil says "P 1500."
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- 1950s.
Length Both the fountain pen and mechanical pencil are about 5-5/16"
Filling System Cartridge/converter. Here's the challenge with Waterman CFs: the cartridges and converters are no longer made and are close to impossible to find. To use these pens, most modern day owners resort to refilling the cartridges with a syringe. The fountain pen has a starter cartridge installed and the box still has a sealed cartridge. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads and the twist mechanism works well. (We will include a syringe kit.)
Color Black, probably lacquer bodies with gold plated caps with a pattern of four lines and a space.
Nib FINE 14k semi-flexible nib. The barrel us stamped "Fine Flex" but we only consider it semi-flexible.
Condition Excellent + condition, in box, with paperwork, and two cartridge blanks. (The pen is better than the pencil.) This is a beautiful classic pen and pencil set that still looks nice and shiny and that has original chalk marks on the fountain pen and mechanical pencil barrels. The fountain pen section has light microscratching on the long gold arms of the nib unit. The barrel has light scratching with a few long, thin scratch lines toward the end. The cap has light microscratching and a few microdots of plating wear on the slanted top piece. The mechanical pencil has light scratching. The cone has a band of corrosion where it touches the body of the pencil. The cap has light microscratching and small dots of plating wear at the end of the clip and on the slanted top piece. The box is in lovely condition. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
