Type Fountain pen and ballpoint pen
Product Name Waterman CF Pen Set
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- 1950s.
Length Fountain pen is 5-5/16"; Ballpoint 5-1/4"
Filling System FOUNTAIN PEN: Cartridge/converter. We will include one sealed cartridge with this pen. Here's the challenge with Waterman CFs: the cartridges and converters are no longer made and are close to impossible to find. To use these pens, most modern day owners resort to refilling the cartridges with a syringe. Pencil: Takes 0.9mm leads, which advance by twisting the top half.
Color Red bodies with gold plated smooth caps. The section is a cream color with gold side bars running to the nib feed.
Nib MEDIUM FLEX 14k nib is smooth and slightly springy. The chalk mark on the barrel says "Med. Flex", but we don't really see any line variation here, just a slightly soft feel when writing.
Condition Excellent + condition, in box with paperwork. The fountain pen barrel looks really great with just some faint signs of wear. There is a really clear chalk mark on the barrel, indicating the model number, nib size, and original price. No staining on the section. The gold cap is excellent, with light scratching and some areas where the plating is thin. There are a couple of tiny dots of pitting. The imprints are clear. The pencil barrel and cap have some light wear. There are a few dots of pitting on the cap. The nose cone has some scratches and plating wear. It's not firmly affixed to the barrel, so in order to extend or retract the lead, you may need to simultaneously hold the nose cone and barrel while twisting the top, but the mechanism does work! The set sits in the original black ribbed Waterman's box with slightly stained silk interior. Instructions for filling the pen and pencil are included underneath the platform.
