Type Lever fill fountain pen
Product Name "Crusader", this is the second iteration. The first iteration was solid and aluminum plated. This second iteration had a gold version and an aluminum version. The pencil has a sticker that identifies it as a P517.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1950s, this cap came out around 1948.

Filling System The pen has a lever filling system and is fully restored with a new sac. The pencil takes 0.9mm or "thin" leads and the leads extend and retract via a twist mechanism. There is a version of this pencil that is cap actuated and this is not it.
Color Solid black barrels and a satin golden colored cap with wide bands. There are silver colored grooved rings. The designs were made by carving beneath the gold layer to expose the silver beneath and is not filled in silver.3
Nib FINE 14k Waterman's Rigid nib. It has a slight amount of give and writes smoothly. It is an open nib and not the "taperite" nib that also can be found on pens from this collection. It has a scratch near the base that will not affect writing.
Condition Superior condition. The barrels looks great with low handwear and clear imprints. The caps have some very small marks on the satin coating. This style cap shows wear very easily, though these cap look excellent when compared to the ones we usually see. No cracks or chips or personalization. The pencil has its original sticker.
