Product Description
Type VIntage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Ink-Vue, first version
Manufacturer and Year Waterman USA - circa 1935
Length Fountain pen is 5-3/8" long, and pencil is 5-1/4"
Filling System Compound style lever filler which has been restored and tested. It requires that you pump it a few times - we'll enclose instructions on this filling system. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads, which extend and retract by twisting the front and nose part of the pencil.
Color "Jet" black. The fountain pen's barrel also has translucent amber portions, in order to see the ink level. The trim is gold plated.
Nib FINE FLEX Waterman's Ideal Keyhole BROWN nib. It does have a hairline crack near the base, which is visible in the close-up picture of the nib. (It starts at the O in "Pat. Off" and runs down towards the section.) Because of its location, well down from the tip and breather hole, it should remain stable with normal use of the pen and if the nib and feed are not pulled. It's nice and flexible - we have included a writing sample in the photos below.
Condition Excellent condition, in box. No cracks, chips, dents, or dings. The fountain pen has microscratching and handwear. No large individual scratches. The trim looks really good; there is some brassing on the sides of the clip, and the lever shows a fair bit of wear. There are some small scratches on the cap, and light handwear on the barrel. The material has a good shine to it, and the barrel clarity is excellent. The imprint is clear. The pencil has handwear and light scratching. The front twisting portion is slightly lighter, but the mechanism works quite well. The imprint is smoothed down a bit, but still readable. The box looks beautiful. There are some ink marks on the velvet, but the outer shell looks fantastic.
