Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and pencil set in excellent working condition
Product Name Waterman Lady Patricia
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA, late 1920s
Length Both pieces are 4-1/4" long
Filling System Lever filler. We've put a new ink sac in the pen, and the filling system works well.
Color Waterman's Onyx color is a marbled light caramel with red veins, though this one has the typical darkening and discoloration. The section and cap lip are brick red. Gold-plated trim. The feed is red hard rubber.
Nib A wonderfully flexible Waterman Ideal Canada No. 2 nib, capable of some really pleasing line variation from extra-fine to broad (see writing sample below). The pencil takes 1.1mm leads.
Condition The set is in excellent condition. The fountain pen barrel has darkened to a medium caramel, and the marbling is still somewhat visible. There is light scratching on the barrel, and the end of the barrel has tooth marks. The lever bar has plating wear along the edges. The cap is a bit lighter than the barrel. The top half of the cap also has light bite marks. The cap finial has scratching, and some spots of brassing on the edge. There is also brassing on the edges of the clip, as well as the edges of the cap band. The pencil looks really great. The color is lighter than the pen's, with distinct red veins. The upper cap portion has some tooth marks, with the bottom half much more smooth. The nose cone has some scratching, but looks great. The mechanism is working quite well. The imprints on both pieces are very clear.
The cap finial on both pieces are engraved with the initials "E. R."
