Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen and ballpoint pen set.
Product Name Taperite "Crusader" (later version)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- this version of the Crusader with the "Lumalloy" cap appeared in late 1940s English catalogs.
Length Fountain pen is 5-1/8", ballpoint is 5-1/16"
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, which extend and retract via the traditional twist mechanism.
Color Deep reddish brown body with a "Lumalloy" silver colored colored cap with a pattern of small lines as a cap band.
Nib FINE semi-hooded Taperite nib is smooth. Even with the hood, the nib is springy enough to flex a bit, giving you some line variation. See photos for a writing sample.
Condition Fountain pen: Excellent condition. There are some scuffs on the cap, and the rivet in the top of the cap has some small scratches. The clip has some scratching. There is light to moderate scratching on the barrel and section hood. The lever bar and housing have some plating wear and pitting. No cracks or personalization. The imprint is crisp and clear. It's fully restored and working well.
Mechanical Pencil: Excellent condition. There are small scuffs on the cap. The clip rivet has some plating wear around the edge, but is largely in good shape. The clip looks great. The barrel and nose cone both look fantastic.
