Product Description
Type Vintage mechanical pencil
Product Name Patrician, top of the line model for Waterman pens.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1930s, the model came out in 1929 and Onyx is a launch color. It is now acknowledged as one of the great classics of the golden era of fountain pens.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System The pencil takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads. The lead extends and retracts via a twist mechanism that is working well. An eraser can be attached to the metal tube (lead holder) beneath the cap top. There is an eraser installed right now but it is unusable due to age. A pack of leads will be included.
Color The "Onyx" color is comprised of ivory celluloid with red veins (the "ivory" has mellowed to a gold color and the "red" looks more like burgundy). Red section and ends. Gold plated trim.
Condition Very nice condition. This is a beautifully colored, classic pencil that is a very nice size. The body has moderate scratching. The top piece above the clip has heavy scratching and there are a few chips along its edge. The "section" piece next to the cone has some deep scratching, and it is rough where it meets the cone. The cone has quite a lot of scratching. The clip has plating wear along the edges and light scratching on the face, but there is plenty of gold showing. The imprint at the top of the cap is clear.
