Product Description
Type Glass cartridge fountain pen
Product Name Stalwart, or at least that is what the clip and cap band resemble (though the end of the barrel is rounded, unlike the Stalwart).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA, late 1940s
Length More or less full size -- 5-1/16"
Filling System Glass Waterman cartridge. This is one of the uncommon glass cartridge filled models. With a new sealed cartridge, you would unscrew the blind cap at the end of the barrel, insert the sealed cartridge, and screw down the blind cap to puncture the cartridge. In this case, we are giving you an empty glass cartridge which you can fill with a syringe, then follow the same process only with the nib pointed skyward while you screw on the blind cap.
We did open the pen up and confirm there is a good rubber seal where the cartridge connects. We tested the pen with ink for a few days and did not get any leaks.
Color Lovely marbled browns. The trim is chrome plated. There is a single thin cap band.
Nib 14k nib is marked "Watermans IDEAL" and is fine and flexible, giving line variation from fine to broad. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent with no cracks or chips. The clip and clip screw have light pitting. There are light marks on the barrel near the threads. The imprint is slightly worn, but still clearly readable. The nib is in excellent condition, and gives really nice line variation.
