Product Description
Type Vintage lever-filler fountain pen in excellent working condition.
Product Name Stateleigh.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- circa 1940s
Length 5-/16"
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the bladder in the pen and the filling system works well.
Color Solid shiny black called "Jet Black" barrel with gold plated cap. The cap has a lengthwise pattern of 4 grouped lines and a "cap band" set off by 2 lines on either side.
Nib FINE Flexible Ideal #17 nib, quite large. See our writing sample below. Excellent line variation from fine to double broad. (NOTE: although the writing sample says "Hundred Year Pen", it was produced from this pen, which is NOT a Hundred Year Pen. The 17 nibs were also sometimes branded with the Emblem name used on the later Hundred Year Pens, which was what caused the confusion on the writing sample.)
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is an elegant pen with great barrel shine, velvety black coloring and a nice-looking gold cap. The barrel looks fantastic, with just some micro-scratching. The lever has a few dots of plating wear along the edge and brassing on the tab. The cap looks good. The clip has slight plating wear along the sides. Otherwise, it is a smooth and pretty cap. The imprints are very clear.
