Product Description
Type Luxury mechanical ballpoint and pencil.
Product Name Perfecta barleycorn ballpen and pencil. We see prices online for these around $300 each when on sale, and they carried an MSRP of over 500 Euro per piece.
Manufacturer and Year Yard-O-Led, made in Burmingham, England -- 1989 based on the date hallmark on the ballpoint and 1988 on the pencil.
Length 5", all the sterling in these pens was hand hammered so there is some variance in size.
Filling System It takes Yard-O-Led ballpen refills, which are a slim cylindrical tube and also sold as Schmidt A3 700. You unscrew the top of the cap to access the refills. These are not the same as the Yard-O-Led pocket twist action ballpen refill. A working Yard-O-Led refill is installed. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads. You load the leads by pulling up the top part to expose the slitted open cylinder which holds the leads, very much like vintage Wahl metal pencils.
Color Rounded sterling silver in a barleycorn design. They have lots of hallmarks. The ballpoint is individually numbered on the clip, much like a serial code. It has a blank cartcouche for personalization.
Condition Excellent + used condition. The set has light handwear but no chips, dents, or scratches. No personalization. The hallmarks are very clear. The pen and pencil are working very well. The top brad that secures the clip on the pencil is a little misformed.
